Campaign Evaluation

Campaign Evaluation

The campaign that I took part in was a campaign which the main priority was to try and stop all forms of media piracy.

We had to make some posters, a leaflet, and some adverts to help out campaign. We had to make them all link in with each other. They had to link by logo, slogan and the target audience. In the posters and leaflet, I included the slogan of our campaign which was 'Who you gonna call?'. This was also used in our advert. This was a good slogan as it is easy to remember and easy to link to our campaign. Our campaign was Piracy Busters, which is a play on the cult film Ghostbusters. This is a good thing to do as our target will get the reference as I am sure that a lot of them have seen the film.

The advert included the logo of our campaign, but I left it out of my posters. The campaign name is in big bold title, so people will still recognize it. I thought that the slogan would have made it a bit more tacky. The poster is meant to grab the attention and lead them to read the information. The eye-catching campaign colours are still being used, but the logo is not.

In all of the forms of media that I used, I included the web address. This is a good thing to include because our target audience of teenagers is always on the internet, so having a web address attached is easy to find and there's more chance the people will see it. It is on all the posters, the leaflet and all the adverts, so there is no chance of somebody missing it.

The target audience of my campaign is teenagers, mainly males. The females are aimed at too by my posters and leaflets. Females like to get a lot of information about the campaign as they like to know all about what they are supporting. The males just like the funny adverts and the easy to read things. The females are smart and the males are easily pleased. This is why our advert is about a chase scene as the males will find it funny and continue to watch it, but there is small bits of information so everybody knows about the damage of piracy. I find it very interesting and I'm sure the audience will too. The posters store a lot of information for the people who are interested in it. This is mainly for the smarter males and the females, but then at least everybody is pleased. This is better because then everybody could get involved with the campaign, which is better for us.

The posters, leaflet and adverts all say Copyright Heroes on them. This is the company who have employed us for the campaign, so you have to talk about them. I have just said 'working with copyright heroes' in small at the bottom. Noticeable, but not outstanding.

The advert was a action-comedy. We thought this would be a good idea as it would fit our target audience more. Males are interested in action and chase scenes, the comedy aspect was meant to keep it slightly watchable.

These are two information pages on our campaign, one is a poster, one is a leaflet. These are a different genre than the advert, these are more informative. The top picture is of one of the posters that I did for the campaign and the bottom picture is a leaflet. Both of these pieces have the campaign name on the front and they also both have a contact website. They do both have information on them, but the leaflet has more. The only diffence is that the leaflet has a picture on it, the top one does not. I will add more pictures and a constant slogan to make them look better and fit with the campaign better.

The main target audience is teenagers, but we aimed it mainly at males. The informative parts, like I've said, are for the females. We're aiming it at upper and middle class people. I don't think the lower class people will be interested in the eager of piracy. The advert will be good for those who enjoy chase scenes and comedy because we tin that it is quite funny.

We did a survey to include our audience in what we do. We thought this would be a good way because it means we can get accurate result as we can choose the question and the answers. It's better for us.

The adverts included ourselves, we filmed it all around our school. There is only males in the advert. There is one negative representation of youth and one positive. The person downloading illegal content is negative and the other Piracy Buster is positive. We'll have it at the start of comedy films and action films. Maybe some horror films too. These are genres usually watched by teenagers.

Our group worked well together. We had a list of tasks that had to be done and we each took a job and did it. When we done, we would tell the other members of the group and then discuss what else had to be done. It was all very fluid.

We had to work hard when we had a change of plan with filming. We wanted to film the Christmas holidays, but some of the group weren't available so we had to make a complete change. Actors and script was changed and so was the location. We made room so we could all be there. We did the filming very well, edited it very well and our advert was finished perfectly. We worked well with the time and hit all of the deadlines.

Our posters would be put up in a lot of good places where they would be seen and hopefully read. At the cinema would be good. It would be good there because it would be relevant. We are trying to stop piracy in film, so if the posters are outside the cinema and our adverts are before the films, it would definitely get our message out. We could also put them outside of DVD shops, places like HMV. It goes along the subject of movies, people will read it because it is to o with movie piracy. They will hopefully then contact us by coming to our website.

There was no specific contribution to each person, we all did what we could. If there was a task to be done, we'd to it. The group did have some bad points, maybe when one member of the group had an easy job to do and another had a hard job. One member would be unhappy but they would do the job and do it well. I think that all of the group 'pulled their weight', maybe some more than others, but it all worked out in the end.

I think the advert went better than I thought it would. Whilst filming I thought that the audio was going to be bad, the acting looked rubbish. After editing, it actually looked good, the music was good and it actually looked well. I'm proud of it. The group did work well during the filming and we weren't afraid to say if somebody was doing something  wrong. You have to have that happen in order for the group to work smoothly.

The one thing we didn't think of was having a back up plan. If somebody couldn't be in or forgot a bit of equipment, we didn't know how to deal with it. This rarely happened though, there were a few arguments about the hard and easy work. Other than that, we all worked really well together.

Altogether, the project run rather smoothly. some parts are hard, but it was all good with a good outcome.
